I am a death doula, educator, and end-of-life coach. I have been at the bedside through active dying, and I have witnessed medical aid in dying. I host the podcast Dying to Ask with ChristyB, and I run Compass Doula Academy and the Compass Doula Collective.

I built this session out of the calls I fumbled early on. The ones where I talked too much, pitched too soon, or let a scared person hang up because I could not find the steady thing to say. The first conversation is not the intake, and it is not a sales call. It is the moment someone decides whether you are safe.

There are no living experts on death, and I am not the one right way to do this work. What I can give you is what actually happens on these calls, and a way of showing up that holds when someone is talking fast two days after a diagnosis. Come practice with us.
